Running races directed/co-directed by Karsten:Markham Asylum 5 Mile RunSaturday 27 December 2008 - Markham, VAAn extremely small pseudo-race held on Belle Meade Lane near I-66 exit 18 in northwestern Fauquier County. Stupid Little 10 Miler & 5KSunday 22 March 2009 - Watermelon Park, Berryville, VAThe Shenandoah Valley's classic, mostly-annual distance event. Ostensibly a low-key, low-budget, inexpensive affair, but I always wind up putting far more effort into it than I intend to. Festival of Leaves 5KSaturday 10 October 2009 (tentative) - Front Royal, VAFounded (or re-founded) by Patrick Farris in 2000; directed by yours truly since 2007. Typically small and cheap. May relocate from the old Warren County High School to nearby Skyline High School (pending permission) for the 2009 event. Greasy-Gooney 10KSaturday 24 October 2009 (tentative) - Browntown, VAExtremely scenic and quite challenging 6.2 mile race in the Blue Ridge foothills, eight miles south of Front Royal. Another Patrick Farris creation, now co-directed by me and Terry Leckie. Running races which Karsten helps promote:Rotary 5K & Quarter Mile Kids RunSaturday 28 March 2009 - Jim Barnett Park, Winchester, VAChris Northrup's road race through the park and the Shenandoah University campus, with proceeds going to Rotary Charities. Front Royal Kiwanis 5KSaturday 16 May 2009 - Warren County Middle School, Front Royal, VADirected by Terry Leckie; runs through the streets of Front Royal and into the campus of Randolph-Macon Academy. | (If you're looking for the other Karsten Brown, the one with the photography studio in Nevada, his site is at www.karstentb.com. I'm a different, unrelated Karsten Brown, the one who was born and raised in northern Virginia. Yes, believe it or not, there's more than one "Karsten Brown" here in the United States!) |
