The tenth annual Front Royal Kiwanis 5K will be held on Saturday 15 May 2010 at 9:00 AM, starting and finishing at Warren County Middle School in Front Royal, Virginia. Runners of all abilities are welcome to participate!

The 3.1 mile running race follows a rolling course on paved roads through the northwestern part of town, including an out-and-back stretch through Randolph-Macon Academy. (course map)

Entry fees are just $13 by Wednesday 12 May or $15 on race day, with a $1 discount available to members of the Shenandoah Valley Runners and the Kiwanis. Proceeds will benefit the Kiwanis Club of Front Royal.

Awards will be given to the top two overall males & females, first Masters (40 & over), and top three in mostly five-year age groups (14 & under, 15-19 through 55-59, and 60 & over).

The course records are 16:42 (Bob Schneider, 2002) and 19:28.8 (Laura Nelson, 2005); the Masters (40+) records are 18:13 (Jerry Anderson, 2002) and 20:46 (Sandy Adams, 2001). Last year's overall winners were Matt McClanahan (17:36.2) and Tiffany Hatcher (21:40.1).

Warren County Middle School is at 500 West 15th Street. A Google map showing the school's location can be found here, and driving directions also appear on the race flyer. (Registration and the finish line will be in the parking lot on the east side of the school, just south of the athletic field/track.)
