Rotary 5K Run for Polio and Quarter Mile Kids Run

Saturday 28 March 2009 Jim Barnett Park Winchester, VA

The 10th annual Rotary 5K, now renamed the Rotary 5K Run for Polio, will be held on Saturday 28 March 2009 at the Rotary Shelter in Winchester's Jim Barnett Park. This year's 5K, which starts at 9 AM, will use a slightly different (and newly USATF-certified) course, eliminating the sidewalk sections on Millwood Avenue & Pleasant Valley Road and replacing them with a new out-and-back stretch on the Shenandoah University campus. The quarter mile children's fun run takes place at 10 AM, just before the 5K awards ceremony.

We're currently in the process of updating this site for the 2009 race; hopefully it will be up and running by mid-February. In the meantime, you can download a PDF copy of the 2009 race flyer (480 KB). The flyer contains all of the primary race information and an entry form.

If you have any questions about the event, please contact race director Chris Northrup at (540) 665-4982 or chris@northrupconsulting.com. The race is being conducted by the Winchester Rotary Club with help from the Shenandoah Valley Runners, and proceeds from the race will go towards Rotary International's polio eradication efforts.
